Dorothy A. Yates

Mrs. Dorothy A. Yates, age 93 of Jonesboro, formerly of Metropolis, died at 5:59 a.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2015 in the Union County Hospital in Anna. She was born January 11, 1922 in Metropolis, the daughter of John H. and Minnie E. (Kelley) Busclas. She married Cletis D. Yates and together they enjoyed sixty-seven years of marriage. Dorothy is survived by her loving daughter, Cheryl (Clay) Carter of Anna; three grandchildren, Heath Carter, Leitha Patton, and Molly Hollis; eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cletis D. Yates; and daughter, Judith S. Yates. Dorothy was a member of the Seven Mile Baptist Church in Metropolis since 1931. Until her death she was the oldest living member of the Church. Graveside services for Mrs. Dorothy A. Yates will be at 12:00 noon on Monday, October 26, 2015 in the Seven Mile Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Terry Mathis officiating. Interment will be in the Seven Mile Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Center or the Carmi Baptist Children's Home. Envelopes will be available in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna and at the cemetery.
