Dorothy Y. (Williams) Harvell

Dorothy Y. Harvell age 84 of Jonesboro, passed away, Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born August 24, 1941 in Anna, the daughter of Ernest and Dorothy (Braggs) Williams. She married Dale Harvell on November 4, 1959. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2021.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Darryl and wife, Diane Harvell of Jonesboro; daughter, Donna and husband Kenny Brumleve of Cobden; four grandchildren, Kyle and wife Brenlee Brumleve, Jessica and husband Khyle Dean, Ryan and wife Rachel Brumleve, Stephanie and husband Dwayne Treece; eight great-grandchildren, Logan, Flynt, Aria, Kason, Brigham, Adaley, Ainsley, and Autumn; nieces and nephews; dear friend, Harmony Karg; fur baby, Abby; other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale Harvell, grandson, Derek Harvell, and sister, Ernestine Jackson.

Early in her work career, Dorothy worked for Kroger and Florshiem Shoe Factory until their closure. She then went on to be a bus driver for Shawnee School District until she retired. She dearly loved the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they brought her so much joy. She loved the outdoors and nature; she enjoyed bird watching and feeding all the wildlife outside her back door. Dorothy will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Graveside services for Dorothy Y. Harvell will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025 at the Jonesboro Cemetery with Bill Littrell officiating. Interment will follow. Those attending are asked to go directly to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to the Union County Animal Control or the charity of your choice. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery and the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home.
