Dorothy L. Holderfield

Dorothy L. Holderfield, age 74 of Herrin, formerly of Cobden, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in the Herrin Hospital. She was born June 29, 1944 in Anna, the daughter of Carl Melvin and Mamie (Rector) Young. She married Paul Allen Holderfield in April of 1966 in Anna. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2000. Dorothy is survived by her children, Jeff (Donna) Holderfield of Herrin, Angela Lewis of Herrin, Paula Holderfield of Cobden, and Carolyn Nunn of Goreville; ten grandchildren, April (Amber) Holderfield, Shane Holderfield (Emily Driemeyer), Preston Holderfield, Justin Holderfield (Jennifer Rose), Kimberly (Andrew) Aguilar, Jennifer Capogreco, Steven Myers, Brian Myers, William Hileman and Joshua (Tammy) Hileman; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Charlotte Robinson of Herrin and one brother, Carl Young of Marion; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father; mother, Mamie Aldridge; husband, Paul Allen Holderfield; grandson, Jeff Highfield; three brothers, Bill Young, Albert Young and Claude Stroud. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family and dearly loved all her grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden with Rev. Jack Richardson officiating. Interment will be in the Limestone Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials are asked to be made to the A.L.S. Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
