Dorothy L. (Hawkins) Smiddy

Dorothy L. (Hawkins) Smiddy, age 98 of Jonesboro, passed away April 24, 2020 in the Sikeston Convalescent Center. She was born June 24, 1921 in Reynoldsville, the daughter of Amos and Josephine (Cavaness) Hawkins. She married Charles D. Smiddy on September 15, 1956. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1998.Dorothy is survived by her son, Michael (Karen) Smiddy of Hamilton, OH; daughter, Anita Bonser of Port O'Connor, TX, son, Phil Smiddy of Republic, MO; beloved grandchildren, Danielle (Jamie) Shepard of Dexter, MO, Christopher Smiddy of Cape Girardeau, MO, Michelle Warner of Fayetteville, OH, Mark (Janet) Smiddy, Shelly (Jerry) Halbrook, Greg (Debbie) Smiddy, Christina Smiddy, Ken (Connie) Hall; great granddaughter, Amaya Shepard of Dexter; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Charles D. Smiddy; daughter, Sue Houseman; grandson, Keith Smiddy; six brothers, Claude, Paul, Earl, Walter, George and Edgar; three sisters, Grace, Mae and Geneva.Dorothy worked many years at the Florsheim Shoe Company in St. Louis, MO. She loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens. Her family was the most important part of her life and she will be deeply missed.Private graveside services will be held for her immediate family.
