Dorothy Burgess

Dorothy Burgess, age 79 of Anna, died Tuesday, July 24, 2018 in the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. She was born June 19, 1939 in Cobden, the daughter of William and Bertie (Burnett) Murray. She married Kenneth Burgess and together they shared 28 years of happiness. Dorothy is survived by her children, Rick (Lisa) Murray of Cape Girardeau, Bobby Murray of Carbondale, Beverly (Herman) Tanner of Jonesboro, Jeffery (Courtney) Ray of Anna and Russell (Jennifer) Burgess of Anna; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Bill (Nadine) Murray of Alto Pass, Donald (Linda) Murray, Frankie (Janice) Murray, Betty Stegle all of Anna, and Bertie Green of Birmingham, AL; sisters in law, Carolyn Murray of Jonesboro, Patsy Murray of Chicago, Edwina Murray of Anna and Marian Murray of Alto Pass; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth Burgess; brothers, Junior, Charlie, Melvin, Jimmy and Bobbie Murray; sister, Laverne Highland; brothers in law, Jim Stegle, Joe Green and Frank Highland. Dorothy attended Harbor Church at the Lake of Egypt. She worked various jobs in Anna and Sam's Club in Marion before her retirement. She was a member of the Anna Moose Lodge and Woodmen of the World. Funeral services for Dorothy Burgess will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2018 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Pastor David Thompson officiating. Interment will be in the Alto Pass Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 1:00 Thursday, July 26, 2018 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
