Donna Jo Cavness

Donna Jo Cavness, age 61 of rural Murphysboro, formerly of Wolf Lake, died Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at her home. She was born January 19, 1958 in Cape Girardeau, MO, the daughter of Walter "Walt" and Margaret (Gregory) Cavness. Donna is survived by her daughter, Cassandra (Jeff) Hanson of Cobden; son, Derek (Cheryl) Hanson of Grand Tower; one brother; one sister in law; one brother in law; many nieces and nephews; her extended Sauer family; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Walt Cavness; mother, Margaret Bray; two brothers, Roger and Kenny; three sisters, Pat, Linda and Jane. Donna honorably served her country in the Army National Guard and later in the reserves. She owned and operated the Duck Inn in Wolf Lake since 2003. She was a fun loving person and always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved fishing, riding horses and being outdoors. Funeral services will be at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2019 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Jack Thorton and Peggy Camp officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard Funeral Honor Team of Marion. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. and until the service hour at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2019 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the Methodist Church in Wolf Lake or Sandra's Comfort Care.
