Donald Edward Thady

Donald Edward Thady, age 95 of Jonesboro, died Friday, January 24, 2025 at the Illinois Veteran's Home in Anna. He was born July 23, 1929 in Morgan County, the son of Roy Louis and Lois Evelyn (Sawyer) Thady. He married Joy Elaine Irlam on December 12, 1950 in Piggott, AR.

Donald is survived by his loving wife, Joy Elaine Thady of Jonesboro; two children, Kathy Sue (Steven) VanValKenburgh, Randall Jay Thady (Dale Marie); one grandchild, Evan Paige (Jefferson) Chastain; two great-grandchildren, Ellyette and Julia Kate; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Donald Steven Thady; siblings, and one grandchild.

Donald honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired State Trooper for the Illinois State Police after 28 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna.

Graveside funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the Jonesboro Cemetery with Mark Mattheis officiating. Interment will immediately follow.  Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard Military Funeral Honor Team of Marion.
