Donald Dean Pearson, age 94 of Cambria, formerly of Cobden, went home to his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 3, 2024. He was born December 12, 1929 in Cobden, the son of Lee H. and Roxie Lillian (Newberry) Pearson. He married Goldie Delores Wheetley on June 9, 1949 in Cobden She preceded him in death on May 31, 2019.
Donald is survived by his children, Tom Pearson, Dean "Dorman" (Nancy) Pearson, LaDonna Pearson, Gary (Terri) Pearson, Cynthia (Brian) Johnson and Chris (Martha) Pearson; grandchildren, Tim (Allissa) Pearson, Joe (Nicole) Pearson, Brook Johnson, Ashley (Eric) Fox, Lee Pearson, Lindsey (Matt) Lyons, Shelby (Dylan) Edgington, Christopher (Hillary) Pearson, Carson Pearson, Ashley and Desiree Asbell; great-grandchildren, Abigail and Nathaniel Pearson, Campbell, Kendrick, Caelin, Pamela and Penelope Fox, Adaline Pearson, McKenna Lyons, Asher Dean and Gia Grace Edgington, Ethan and Caleb Pearson, Jaydon Mason, Mitchell and Bella Bevins, Colette and Davis Pearson and one on the way; brothers, Kenneth Pearson and Richard (Janice) Pearson; sister, Faye Marks; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Goldie Pearson; grandson, Gary "TK" Couch Jr.; sisters, Lillian Pearson, Anita "Gaye" Hurst and Kay Ellen Robinson; brothers, Doug, Corkey and Gene Pearson; and daughter in law, Barb Pearson.
Donald retired from the ICC Railroad where he worked many years as a locomotive engineer. He owned and operated Pearson Trucking with his wife Goldie. During his years of ministry Donald pastored at Water Valley Church in Cobden, Wayne City and other various churches in the area. He and Goldie were fortunate to be part of several mission trips to Jamacia, bringing the word of God to others. Donald will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
Funeral service for Donald Dean Pearson will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2024, in the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden with Bro. Donnie Colson officiation. Friends and family may visit from 11:00 a.m. and until the service hour of 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Rowan Cemetery in Makanda. Memorial contributions for Donald may be made to Rowan Cemetery. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
