Donald E. Lynn

Mr. Donald E. Lynn, age 72 of Dongola, died at 3:25 p.m. Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Marion. He was born January 17, 1941 in Connellsville, PA, the son of James William and Wanda Tharp Lynn. He married Imogean "Jean" Powles on April 6, 1961 in Winchester, West Virginia. Donald is survived by his loving wife, Jean Lynn of Mill Creek; two daughters, Suzanne (David) Carter of Jonesboro, Lori (Greg) Stettler of Marion; one granddaughter, Lindsey Carter of Jonesboro; one sister, Nancy Randle of York, South Carolina; many loving nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Donald was a member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church; he regularly attended the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons after many years of service. Donald was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling with his wife. During retirement he enjoyed spending the winter months in Plant City, Florida. Funeral services for Mr. Donald E. Lynn will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. Danny Miller and Rev. Mickey Williams officiating. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard Military Honors Team of Marion. Interment will be in the St. John's Cemetery in Dongola. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
