Donald Gene Lemaster

     Donald Gene Lemaster, known to family and friends as Don, of Winter Garden, Florida passed away on April 1, 2026. Don was born on April 7, 1934 in Johnson County, Illinois, to Lloyd and Gladys (Webb) Lemaster. He graduated from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School in 1951 and later attended DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. On May 26, 1956, Don married Norma Hill, with whom he shared a devoted marriage and family life.

     Don proudly served in the United States Army. His service included assignments at Fort Carson, Colorado; Fort Ord, California; and Camp Desert Rock, Nevada, where his company supported 21 nuclear bomb tests conducted in the Nevada desert. Following his military service, Don worked for 38 years with American Can Company. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing and jokingly reminding his son that he achieved three “holes-in-one” in his lifetime. Don was also a lifelong, enthusiastic fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

     Don is survived by his wife, Norma; his son, Brett; his daughter-in-law, Jill; and his granddaughter, Allison, all of Winter Garden, Florida. He is also survived by his sister, Loretta Millton of Anna, Illinois, along with many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Lemaster of Anna, Illinois; his sister, Louise Knowles of Algonquin, Illinois; and his brother, Joe Lemaster of Granite City, Illinois.

     Graveside funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2026 at the Anna Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted and interment will follow. After the cemetery service everyone is invited to Los Dos Gallos in Anna for fellowship and meal. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the cemetery.
