Donald E. Johnson

Mr. Donald E. Johnson, age 84 of Jonesboro, died at 3:15 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014 at his home. He was born September 16, 1930 in Reynoldsville, the son of Earl and Blanche Freeman Johnson. He married Ervina M. Rogers on January 9, 1949 in Anna. Donald is survived by his wife, Ervina M. Johnson of Jonesboro; one daughter, Rhonda (Jim) Brumitt of Jonesboro; one granddaughter, Lara (Mike) Jackson of Bowling Green, KY; two brothers, John (Judi) Johnson of Hollister, CA, Lavern "Hardrock" (Pat) Johnson of Morris, IL; two sisters in law, Sue (Scott) Abney of LaFayette, IN, Lou Ann Johnson of Fresno CA; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Donnie Johnson; one brother, Howard Johnson; and one sister, Mary Bailey. Donald was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro, he was a student of God's Word. He worked many years for the Union County Highway Department. Donald was a member of the American Legion and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 318. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Funeral services for Mr. Donald E. Johnson will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro with Rev. Michael Turner officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Scott Air Force Base Honor Guard. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2014 in the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro. Envelopes will be available at the church and the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
