Donald "Gene" Eddleman, age 92 of Anna, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 at his home. He was born on September 7, 1931 in Dongola, the son of Archie and Amy (Lingle) Eddleman. He married Emelia Angell on January 24, 1959 in Marion. They cherished 65 wonderful years together.
Gene is survived by his wife, Emelia Eddleman of Anna; children, Andy Eddleman of Dongola, Donna Golightly of Foley, AL, Kyle Eddleman of Anna and Jamie (Jenifer) Eddleman of Sault St. Marie, MI; grandchildren, Cody Eddleman, Becky Eddleman, Hayden Golightly, Harrison Golightly, Donald (Haley) Eddleman, Breeanna (Clayton) Pearl, Jakob Eddleman, Abby Eddleman and Olivia Eddleman; great-grandchildren, Skylar, Levi, Draydon, Weston and Armarissa; a sister, Linda McIntosh; nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Artie, Leroy "Tom" and Bobby Eddleman and a sister, Lou "Sis" Porter.
After high school, Gene served in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was deployed during the Korean War from February 12, 1952 to November 11, 1953. After his military service, he returned to Union County where he farmed and worked at Associated Lumber for 25 years.
He was a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband and father and beloved Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Donald "Gene" Eddleman will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with LaRue Parr officiating. Interment will follow in Meisenheimer-Mt. Olive Cemetery near Dongola. Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at the funeral home.
