Dennis Earl Poole

Dennis Earl Poole, age 77 of Jonesboro, died at 9:35 am, Monday, July 25, 2011 at his home. He was born November 26, 1933 in Mill Creek, the son of Eanis Lee and Laura Ann (Bailey) Poole. Dennis married Peggy Rushing on June 20, 1953 in Jonesboro. Dennis worked at Swift Packing in East St. Louis as a beef lugger for about sixteen years. He also worked for nineteen years at the Illinois Mineral Company in Elco and approximately five years at Vogler Ford in Carbondale along with assisting with the family business at various times. Dennis loved sprint car racing and was always the first one there to help prepare the race car, truck and trailer for a weekend of racing. He also enjoyed fishing with his sons and grandsons, as well as playing pool and any other adventures that his children involved him in. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Poole of Jonesboro; two sons, Kenneth (Debbie) Poole of Jonesboro, Jeff (Jane) Poole of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Teresa (Chris) Gibson of Anna; seven granddaughters, Stephanie Casey of Jonesboro, Sara Schmitz of St. Louis, Ashley Gruber of Ft. Bragg, NC, Sarah Ann Moore, Hannah More and Maddy Poole all of Cape Girardeau, and Danielle Brimm of Anna; three grandsons, Keith Poole and Jeremy Poole both of Jonesboro and Josh Parker of Toulan; fourteen great-grandchildren; his step-mother, Cleta May Poole of Dongola; six sisters, Effie (Clarence) Lang of Dongola, JoAnn Boling of DuQuoin, Brenda (John) Berry of Anna, Jeanie Huffine of Dongola, Janice Burchyett of Dongola, Jackie (Chuck) Mitrock of Royalton; four brothers, Eanis (Evelyn) Poole of Tamms, Fred (Carolyn) Poole of Anna, Bobby Poole of Elco, Bill (Brenda) Poole of Mill Creek, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Dorothy Lee Poole, Edna Evelyn Pool, Bonnie Land and one brother, Michael Poole. Funeral services for Dennis will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with the Rev. Mark Goins officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 26 from 5 until 8:00 pm. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Memorials may be made to TIP Hospice and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
