Dennie Ray Smith, Sr.

Dennie Ray Smith, Sr., age 85 of Anna, died Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Deaconess Illinois Medical Center in Marion. He was born on September 1, 1939, in Cobden, the son of Herbert and Edith Smith.

Dennie is survived by his children, Tommy Smith, Dennie Smith, Jr. and Tracy Smith; grandchildren, Alexandra, Peyton, Sydney, Reese and Alicia Smith and Michael Deutschmann; four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Don and Carl Smith and Juanita Williams.

Dennie proudly served our country in the United States Air Force where most of his time he worked as a cook. He enjoyed fishing, golf, eagles and loved sports. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren, visits from Stephanie Gibbs and daily phone calls from George.

Graveside military honors for Dennie Smith will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of arrangements.
