Mr. David L. Harris, age 67 of Alto Pass, died at 5:45 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 in the Integrity Healthcare in Anna. He was born July 5, 1949 in Anna, the son of Charles M. and Alberta L. (Stroehlein) Harris. He married Norma S. Blankenship on March 13, 1971 in Murphysboro. David is survived by his loving wife of forty five years, Norma S. Harris of Alto Pass; son Jake (Angela) Harris of Anna; daughter, Mary K. Harris and fiancé Bryan Miller of Anna; eight grandchildren, LCPL Troy Baggott, Hannah Baggott, Nate Baggott, Brayden Harris, Jasmine Garcia-Ledbetter, Alex Vertiz, David Cardinas and Sean Imgrund; sister, Donna (Don) Grammer of Alto Pass; brother, Dennis (Ditaz) of Las Vegas, NV; several nieces and nephews, including Jeanne and Doug Mixen of Anna; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Steve Harris and nephew, David Hubbs. David was a member of the Alto Pass Congregational Church. He was retired from Verizon Phone Company after many years of service. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972 during the Vietnam Era. David was very active and involved in many organizations including, the Cobden Masonic Lodge #466, the Alto Pass Veterans Group, the Cobden American Legion, the York Rite of Murphysboro and the Alto Pass Cemetery Board. He was also actively involved in the CHIP program and the Cobden Scholar Bowl Team. David really enjoyed his latest career as Farm Market Manager for Rendleman Orchards. He touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by his family, friends and fellow lodge members. Funeral services for Mr. David L. Harris will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Alto Pass with Rev. Davy Miller and Rev. Danny Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Alto Pass Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard Funeral Honor Team of Marion. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2017 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Alto Pass. Masonic rites will be said at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Bald Knob Cross, Shriners Hospital for Children or the Cobden Masonic Lodge #466. Envelopes will be available in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home.
