Daniel W. Bevil, age 73, of Marion IL, formerly of Jonesboro, IL, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 8, 2026. Daniel was born July 28, 1952, to Orbie and Georgia (Norton) Bevil in Chicago IL. Daniel married Valerie S. (Bunch) Eads on December 5, 1986.
Daniel greatly loved God and the beautiful outdoors He gave us. He worked for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources for 42 years at the Union State Tree Nursery in Jonesboro IL. His commitment to preserving and nurturing the region’s natural beauty left a lasting impact on the land and his community.
Dan was blessed in sharing 39 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Valerie. Together, they built a life filled with joy and simple pleasures. They loved spending time outdoors, whether tending to their massive gardens, fishing, hunting, camping, or hiking through nature. They also cherished trips to the beach in Florida, walking in the sand and collecting shells.
Known for his steady character and warmth, Daniel was a true steward of nature and a deeply devoted husband. His vast knowledge and intellect was shared generously with anyone who needed his assistance. He could build anything, repair anything, and grow anything, making him invaluable to his family and friends. His memory will live on in the forests he helped grow and in the hearts of those who loved him.
Daniel will be greatly missed by his surviving wife Valerie; daughter and son in law, Christina and Dan Lassila, and grandson Ezekiel Lassila of Calhoun, TN.; stepson and daughter in law, Aaron and Miriam Eads, and grandchildren Bryan Kott, Summer Eads, and Barrett Eads of Makanda, IL.; and many other close family members and friends. He was proceeded in death by his parents Orbie and Georgia, and his brother Larry Bevil.
Family and friends are invited to graveside services for Daniel at the Ebenezer Hall Cemetery in Lick Creek, IL on Friday, June 12, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Disabled American Veterans. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery and at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home.
