Dale Allen Farris, age 68 of Dongola, passed away into Heaven on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the Union County Hospital. He was born January 3, 1953 in Anna, the son of Fred Chester and Mary Jeanette (Boshera) Farris. He married Sharon Adams on December 20, 1975 in the Anna First Baptist Church. Dale is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon Farris of Dongola; son, Dale Christopher (Mindy) Farris of Lincoln; two grandsons, Bryson and Zak Farris both of Lincoln; sister, Mary (James) Bloodworth of Dongola; two brothers, Fred (Debi) Farris of Cape Girardeau and Jerry (April) Farris of Jonesboro; many cousins, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Sammy Lee and William "Bill" Roy Farris. Dale was always around the big trucks from the time he was a teenager. He started out at Brown Trucking and retired from FedEx Freight after a 20-year service with them. At the time of his illness with cancer, he was teaching a CDL class as an instructor for Shawnee Community College. He loved every minute around the big rigs. Dale proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was trained to work on the engines of the planes. Dale's biggest joy was serving his Lord by helping others in his church, the Anna First Baptist Church. Dale was a member for over 45 years, serving as trustee for the last 7 years. He was known for greeting everyone every Sunday morning letting them know they were welcomed in God's house. He was a big man, with a big heart. Dale's celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Anna with Pastor Dennis Mohr officiating. Please come in the side doors by the parking lot. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Scott Air Force Base Military Funeral Honors Team. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the church. Memorials may be made to the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home. Envelopes will be available at the church.
