Connie Lou Mays

Connie Lou Mays, 78 of Anna, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. She was born on January 26, 1943 in Elco, Illinois, the daughter of Claud and Freda (Dickerson) Winn. She is survived by her children, Deborah Lee (Rusty) Cunningham, Sandra Kay (Terry) Pickel and Ronald Wayne Mays; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Ivy, Sarah, Jason, Justin, Andrea and Ryan; twenty great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike (Marilyn) Winn and Jack (Carroll Ann) Harvell; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Sherman Mays, Jr. and five siblings, Ruth Kinder, Pat, Gene, and Carol Ann Winn and J. D. Burnett. Connie was a member of the Anna Church of the Nazarene. She retired from Choate Mental Health where she worked as a seamstress. She had previously been a hairdresser and beautician. She loved dancing, sewing, traveling and visiting resale shops, yard sales and auctions. She was a member of the Anna Elks and Moose Lodges. Funeral services for Connie Lou Mays will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Anna Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Mike Winn officiating. Interment will follow at Anna City Cemetery. Visitation will take place Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at 2:00. Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to the Mays family. Envelopes will be available at the church and at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home.
