It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clyde Duane Smith who passed peacefully on April 3, 2025, at his home. Born on January 27, 1961, in Cobden, Illinois, the proud son of Clyde Eugene and Geneva Irene (Wright) Smith. Clyde was a graduate of Cobden High School. Throughout his life, he worked as a concrete laborer, notably for Smith Concrete. He was a hard worker and took a great amount of pride in his work.
Clyde was a member of the Harvest Church in Anna, Illinois. He was a hunting guide for Grassy Lake Hunting Club for many years. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals fan, but an even bigger fan of his grandkid's sports teams.
To cherish his memory, Clyde is survived by his three children, Beth Smith, Bruce (Melissa) Smith, and Abigail Smith; his grandchildren Brayden Smith, Prestyn Smith, and Jordy Unnerstall; his siblings, Jim (Joan) Smith, Susan (Jeff) Forby, and Deanna Smith; His nephews Joe, Jimmie, and Jason Smith, Chris and Jon Gibbons as well as his niece Emily Forby Gaddis. Clyde is also survived by his special great nieces and nephews as well as many beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Eugene Smith and mother Geneva Irene Smith; his sister Martha Smith; and both his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Clyde's hard work, selflessness, and love for his family will live on through his firm foundation that he built before he left.
Graveside services for Clyde Duane Smith will be at 1:00 pm Friday, April 11, 2025, at the Cobden Cemetery. Family and friends may gather at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden, Illinois from 11:00 am until the service time at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 11, 2025. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Envelopes are available at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home.
