Clifford Dean Cain, 90, of Jonesboro, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 10:30 pm, Thursday, May 7th 2020 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna. He was born July 4, 1929 in Chicago, to Pink & Gertrude (Hummel) Cain. He married Clara Peddycoart December 12, 1946. Cliff was an avid farmer all his life. He loved his family and was very active in doing the Lord's work. He was always ministering to those he came in contact with about the love of Jesus Christ. He was involved in ministry work through various prisons in Southern Illinois, Mardi Gras, Teen Challenge, and other organizations throughout his life. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Wolf Lake, where he served as a deacon. Cliff was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He set a Godly example to all those he encountered. He was a US Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Steven Cain; brothers, Collin "Cork", Don, Ronnie, & Duane Cain; sister Maxine Cox. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Clara Cain of Jonesboro; two daughters, Brenda (David) Schlenker of Anna and Donna Morse of Longwood, FL; a son, Phillip Cain of Jonesboro and one sister, Shirley Schweighart of Tuscola, IL. 6 grandchildren, Jennifer Bratton, Rebecca (Marc) Korb, Sheldon (Jenna) Casper, Sonja Cain, Rachel (Darren) Frazier, & Justin Cain. 13 great-grandchildren, Emma & Ben Bratton, Christopher Mowery, Hannah (Conner) Hughart, Malayna Korb, Journey, Elijah & Zeke Casper, Rhiannon Korando, Cameron Clifton, Anthony, Rylan, and Ava Frazier. 2 great-great-grandchildren, Miles Jarett and Charli Hughart. Graveside services will be held privately for the immediate family. Memorials may be made to Teen Challenge and sent to the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
