Clayton Jonathan Whitley, age 3 of Anna, died at 12:20 a.m Friday, May 1, 2015 in the Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born February 22, 2012 in Cape Girardeau, MO, the son of Rev. Jonathan and Tara Whitley. Clayton is survived by his parents; two brothers, Ross William Whitley and Graham Oliver Whitley both of Anna; paternal grandmother, Janet Whitley of St. Louis, MO; maternal grandfather, John Eby of Blue Springs, MO; maternal grandmother, Randa Eby of Lee's Summit, MO; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Clayton Jonathan Whitley was a beloved, joyful, little boy who won the hearts of all he met. He was sweet-spirited and loved life. He loved playing with his big brother, Ross, and little brother, Graham and always had plenty of hugs to give away. He loved to ride his bike, play piano, drums and guitar, sing praise songs to Jesus, play with Thomas the Train, cars and trucks, do puzzles, color, ride in Mick, swing on the see-saw, and play in the dirt and mud. He loved the outdoors and loved being like his big brother, Ross. He was always excited to see his Daddy and Mommy. He loved learning about God, quoting Bible verses and singing hymns. He was our little song leader for family devotion time. He was compassionate and had great empathy for others. We rejoice knowing that he is with the Savior, Jesus Christ, and we have witnessed God's promise throughout his life in the verse for which his name was given: "Like clay in the potter's hand, so are you in my hand, declares the LORD." Jeremiah 18:6. We will greatly miss Clay but are so happy he has been rescued and redeemed by Jesus Christ our Lord!
