Clarence L. Lang Sr., age 81 of Dongola, died Saturday, December 25, 2021 at the Shawnee Senior Living in Herrin. He was born December 18, 1940 in De Soto, the son of Samuel and Clara (Duty) Lang. He married Effie Pearl Poole on May 29, 1959 in Jonesboro. She preceded him in death on September 25, 2012. Clarence is survived by his son, Clarence L. Lang Jr. of Anna; six grandchildren, Amanda McKay, Samantha Smith, Kasondra Freeman, Rebekah Benefield, Hunter Freeman and Chelsie Lang; seven great-grandchildren, Ruger, Remington, and Rossi Freeman, Emilye and Effie Smith, Cadey Sims, and Caison Allen; two great-great grandsons, Greyson Alexander Baucom and Myles Baucom; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Effie Lang; son, Terry Lang; daughter, Marilyn Freeman; and several siblings. Clarence worked over twenty years for Transcraft before it's closing. He owned and operated Lang Sonoco in Metropolis for many years, as well as farming. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2021 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Interment will be in the St. John's Cemetery in Dongola. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 1:00 on Friday, December 31, 2021 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with expenses. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
