Mr. Chester Dale Coder, age 87 of Anna, died at 10:26 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Marion. He was born December 26, 1925 in North Liberty, IN, the son of Sylvester and Ethel Coffman Coder. He married Karen L. Nelson on June 10, 1987 in Las Vegas, NV. Chester is survived by his wife, Karen Coder of Anna; five children, Chris Soutar of Countryside, IL, Cindy (John) Bump of Downers Grove, IL, Edie (John) Urban of Plainfield, IL, Carrie (Lenny) Beszczynski of Dongola, and George Christy of Anna; six grandchildren, John Bump, Joanna Dobrovolny, Zack Coder, Josh Christy, Austin Beszczynski, Carsten Christen; seven great grandchildren, Jake Galan, Joseph and Josh Dobrovolny, Emma and Kayla Dobrovolny, Sara and Bob Bump; two brothers, Russel Coder of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Al Tener of Hudson, FL; three sisters, Phyllis Patrick of Laport, IN, Shirley Maddock of Jacksonville, FL, Faye Patla of Fish Lake, IN; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded by his parents; five brothers and sisters. Chester proudly served in the United States Army and the Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Chester Dale Coder will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the National Cemetery in Mound City Illinois with military honors conducted by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Team of Marion and local area Veteran's groups. Interment will be in the National Cemetery in Mound City Illinois. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the D.A.V. or the Fisher House at Jefferson Barracks. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
