Charlie Jenkins

Mr. Charlie Jenkins, age 85 of University Park, Illinois, formerly of Cobden died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 in the Veterans Administration Hospital in An Arbor, MI. He was born September 30, 1927 in West Frankfort, Illinois, the son of Charles and Ora Dora Gunn Jenkins. Charlie is survived by his three children, Tom (Debra) Jenkins of Gansevoort, New York, Deborah (Ben) Lawson of Jackson, Michigian, Don (Aster) Jenkins of West Dundee, IL; six grandchildren, Wendy Walker, Christopher (Alison) Walker, Tristin (Jason) Huey, Kathryn Jenkins, Michael Jenkins, and Sonja Jenkins; one great grandchild, Alex Walker; one sister, Polly (Jim) Hubbs of St. Charles, IL; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Eugene Jenkins. Charlie retired after forty two years of service with the Ford Motor Company. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Charlie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Charlie Jenkins will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17 2013 at the Cobden Cemetery withRev. Paul Sadler officiating. Interment will be in the Cobden Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Illinois Army National Guard Military Honors Team of Marion. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the D.A.V. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery and at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.
