Charles W. "Chuck" Harvel

Mr. Charles W. "Chuck" Harvel age 86 of rural Tamms, died at 11:06 p.m. Monday, January 11, 2016 in the Jonesboro Rehab and Nursing Center. He was born October 29, 1929 in De Soto, IL, the son of Harry and Bessie (Davis) Harvel. He married Shirley J. Sowers on April 11, 1953 in Corinth, Mississippi. Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Shirley J. Harvel of rural Tamms; children, Vickie Jacobs of Sparta; Richard (Suzan) Harvel of Augusta, GA, Charles (Martha) Harvel of Tamms, Tina (Darron) Moore of Poplar Bluff, MO; eight grandchildren, Tami, Wendy, Sarah, Rachel, Nikki, Allison, Scott, and Samuel; ten great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Ashley, Tristen, Brody, Laila, Liam, Stella, Hadassah, Zipporah, and Havilah; one great-great grandson, Asher; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Beulah, Loyd, Dempsey, Mary, Jim, Hazel, Tom, Fred, and Louie. Chuck was a member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church for many years. He was a skilled carpenter in the construction industry. Chuck proudly served his country in the United States Army Airborne during the Korean Conflict. Funeral services for Mr. Charles W. "Chuck" Harvel will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2016 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. Paul Tirey officiating. Interment will be in the St. Johns Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team of Marion. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's Cemetery.
