Cathy Sue Cobb

Cathy Sue Cobb, age 65 of Murphysboro, died Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. She was born July 21, 1956 in East St. Louis, the daughter of James Isaac and Margaret Fluanna (Smith) Newton. She married Robert Cobb on September 1, 1979. He preceded her in death on August 19, 2006. Cathy is survived by her children, Brian (Renee) Cobb, Shelley Elizabeth Cobb, Bo (Courtney) Cobb, Amber (Jorge) Ruiz; grandchildren, Juliana Torrvella, Kendyll Blevens, Ashlynn Grace Cobb, Pete and Scarlett Ruiz; brother, Leroy Newton; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert Cobb. Cathy loved sunflowers and enjoyed doing needle point. She loved her dog, Miller, very much. She loved being a grandmother and was so proud of each new grandchild she had. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Pastor Ike Newton officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
