Carroll Lee Thompson, age 86 of Ullin and formerly of Anna, died at 7:05 pm, Friday, August 19, 2011 at the Daystar Care Center in Cairo. He was born on August 11, 1925 in Elco, the son of Carroll Henry and Lena (Hileman) Thompson. Carroll married Gladys Rose Sharp on August 17, 1947 in Arkansas and he was of the Baptist faith. Carroll proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. Survivors include a granddaughter, Deanna Bevil of Tarpon Springs, FL; a brother-in-law, Joe (Joann) Sharp of Cobden; a sister-in-law, Emma Whitson of Tulsa, OK; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys Rose Thompson; a daughter, Vickie Lee Bevil and an infant son, Davy Joe Thompson. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with the Rev. Lacy Betts officiating. Interment will be in the St. John's Cemetery near Dongola with military rites conducted at the graveside by the Carroll P. Foster VFW Post #3455 of Anna and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Team of Marion. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 24 from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour at 3:00 pm.
