Carolyn Sue Basse

Carolyn Basse, age 75 of Jonesboro, died Monday, January 15, 2018 at her home. She was born October 9, 1942 in Cobden, the daughter of Marion Edward and Minnie Melba (Hicks) Sweitzer. She married James A. Basse on December 2, 1966 in Cobden. He preceded her in death on June 5, 2016. Carolyn is survived by her two daughters, Julie (Don) Hamilton of Ava, Christy Basse of Jonesboro; son, Jeff Basse of Jonesboro; two granddaughters, Kelly and Kayla Hamilton; three sisters, Fran Holly of Cobden, Shirley Razick of Sarasota, FL, and Tootie (Wilbur) Steinheimer of New Athens; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Bobbie Womack and one brother, Larry Sweitzer. Carolyn was an avid bingo enthusiast, she enjoyed going to play bingo with her girlfriends. She dearly loved spending time with her granddaughters. Private services for Carolyn will be held by her family. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
