Carolyn Ruth Allen

Carolyn "Ruth" Allen, age of 78, went to be with the Lord on May 21, 2021. She was born on June 6, 1942, in Ware, Illinois to the late Wayne "Kate" and Ivory Wright (Wilson). In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Harry B. Allen; brother, Bill Wright; and two sisters, Barbara Foster and Gabby Dickerson. Ruth was united in marriage to Harry B. Allen on January 2, 1964 in Ware, Illinois. From this marriage five children were born: two sons, Kenneth Allen and Darryl Allen of Dayton, Ohio and three daughters, Angela Haines (Donald) of Fairborn, Ohio, Brenda Allen of Riverside, Ohio and Teresa Allen of Beavercreek, Ohio. Her children blessed her with eight grandchildren, Joseph Haines, Amanda Gearheart, Valene Allen, Ashley Allen, Autumn Shilt, Rebecca Vance, Renea Vance, and Rebba Vance; seven great grand-children, Quentin Gearheart, Lucas Vance, Myah Vance, Sophee Allen, Lillee Allen, Adlyr Holbrook and Josey Holbrook. She is survived by nine siblings, Jim Wright, Sharon Smith, Sondra Clover, Beverly Ellis, Vicki Wilson, Audrey Wright, Debra Wright, Richard Wright, and Karen Wright. Ruth is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ruth loved to read her bible, listen to gospel music, crochet, spend time with her family, and do jigsaw puzzles. She was so proud of her family and never hesitated to let them know. She is well loved and will be dearly missed by all those who knew her. Funeral services for Ruth Allen will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Illinois. Interment will follow in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Family and friends may gather from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
