Carol F. Travis

Mrs. Carol F. Travis, age 80 of Anna, died at 6:20 am, Wednesday April 3, 2013 at the Union County Nursing Home. Carol was born on July 20, 1932 in Cairo, the daughter of Everett and Charlotte (Russell) Mertz. She married Ralph F. "Chico" Travis in 1957 in Jonesboro. She was a member of the Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church. Carol was a mathematics teacher for twenty-seven years at Anna-Jonesboro Community High School. She was the founder and coach of the Math Team at Anna-Jonesboro Community High School. Carol was a great lover of animals. Carol is survived by her husband, Ralph "Chico" Travis of Anna; one son-in-law, Sergeant Major Ron Prather of Nashville, TN; one brother, Russell Mertz of Paducah, KY, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Prather. Graveside funeral services for Carol F. Travis will be conducted on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Anna Cemetery with Pastor Kathy Montira officiating. Interment will be in the Anna Cemetery. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church or P.A.W.S.
