Carleen (Pitts) Cain

Carleen Cain, age 87 of Murphysboro, formerly of Union County, died Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Manor Court in Carbondale. She was born April 19, 1937 in Wolf Lake, the daughter of George and Freda (Wilson) Pitts. She married Ron Cain on July 16, 1955. He preceded her in death November 15, 2009. She later married Ivan Rhodes, he also preceded her in death.

Carleen is survived by her two brothers, Fred (Barbara) Pitts of Lick Creek, and Wayne (Judy) Pitts of Wolf Lake; nieces and nephews, Gena (Wendell) Davis, Sandra Kay Clutts, Ron Pitts, Bruce Pitts, Kent (Nancy) Pitts, Wes (Melanie) Pitts and Teresa (Tony) Guy; numerous great nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; and sister, Vernita Miller.

Carleen enjoyed singing and working in her flower garden. She was the quintessential social butterfly. She loved social gatherings, coffee clubs and getting together for a good time with her friends.

Graveside services will be announced at a later date at the Ebenezer Hall Cemetery. Memorial contributions are preferred to the Ebenezer Hall Cemetery. Envelopes are available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home.
