Carl Wayne Sloan

Mr. Carl Wayne Sloan, age 87 of Cobden, died at 9:52 pm, Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at his home in Cobden. He was born on August 26, 1927 in Makanda, the son of Hiram and Armentha Ann (Duty) Sloan. Carl was united in marriage to Una Blessing and they shared fifty-one years together until her death on August 27, 2007. Carl worked at Bunny Bread in Anna and he also farmed. He enjoyed spending time with children, family and friends. He was a very loving and generous man who will be missed by all who knew him. Carl is survived by one brother, Earl Dean Sloan of Wisconsin; one son-in-law, Oliver Ridgeway of Anna; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram and Armentha Ann (Duty) Sloan; his wife Una Sloan; one step-daughter, Glenda Blessing; two brothers, Raymond Sloan and Ernest Sloan and four sisters, Ruby Lawrence, Helen Sloan, Hester McCall and Hazel Brazel. Funeral services for Mr. Carl Wayne Sloan will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden with the Rev. Kenneth Mixen officiating. Interment will be in the Cobden Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, June 26 from 5 until 8:00 pm at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
