Mr. Carl Eugene Powers Sr., age 54 of Anna, went home to be with Jesus, Sunday, January 28, 2018 in Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. His battle is over, his waiting is done. He was born August 19, 1963 in Jerseyville, the son of Wesley and Barbara (Godar) Powers. He married Debbie Allison on June 18, 1996 in Paducah, KY. Carl is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Powers of Anna; father, Wesley Powers of Jerseyville; children, Carl Eugene Jr. (Mary) Powers of Fieldon, Stephanie Allison of Jonesboro, and Christina Ridenbark of Jerseyville; grandchildren, Morgan, Allison, and Hannah Morris, Autumn Powers, Jimmy and Alex Ridenbark; brothers, Kenny Powers of Anna, and David (Davina) Powers of Dongola; aunts, uncles, numerous cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Gary. Carl was a truck driver most of his life, he enjoyed working on engines ever since he was a young boy. He loved to hear the roar of a diesel engine. One of his goals was to put his hand in the Pacific ocean and drive across the country and put his hand in the Atlantic, which he was able to do. When his granddaughters started driving and had a problem, they always ran to grandpa...saying "grandpa can you look at my car?" Carl loved woodworking and was an avid reader and member of the NRA. He was a kind and caring person who would help anyone having trouble. He was a patient teacher, a good loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in the Alto Pass Cemetery with Rev. Mike Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Alto Pass Cemetery. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery and the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home.
