Capt. Bob Wright

William R. "Bob" Wright, age 81 of Thebes, died Saturday, August 3, 3019 in Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born September 7, 1937 in Union County, the son of Winstead R. and Blanche (Dusky) Wright. Bob is survived by his loving companion of many years, Rosemary Pender of Jonesboro; daughter, Cecelia "Scoobie" Santos (David Gerwatoski) of New Bedford, Mass; granddaughter, Kirsten (Filipe) Palma; sister, Mary Yeckley of Cape Girardeau, MO; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Robbie and Ronnie Wright; and baby sister, Bonnie Wright. Bob was a member of the East Cape Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1955-1958. He worked forty years as a river boat captain. Bob was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 318, the Anna Masonic Lodge 520 A.F & A.M., and was a life member of the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna. Graveside funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2019 in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Interment will immediately follow. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Navy Funeral Honor Detail. Everyone is asked to go directly to the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the East Cape Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery and the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home.
