Bryce Frederick Reed, age 25 of Jonesboro, died at 10:29 am, Monday, April 16, 2012 at his home in Jonesboro. He was born on August 15, 1986 in Cape Girardeau, MO, the son of Rex and Cathy (Modglin) Reed. Bryce graduated from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School in 2004 and received his Bachelors Degree in Recreation Management from Southern Illinois University in 2009. Bryce was employed as a correctional officer at Shawnee Correctional Center in Vienna. Bryce enjoyed being outdoors, bass fishing, hunting and managing the family farm. He will be remembered by the many who loved him and he will be greatly missed. Bryce is survived by his parents, Rex and Cathy Reed of Jonesboro; his loving girlfriend, Mallory Lindberg of Carbondale; one brother, Blake Reed of Dongola; maternal grandmother, Carolyn Modglin of Ullin; aunts and uncles, Betsy Modglin of Gulfport, MS, Max and Ocia Reed of Ledbetter, KY, Scott and Gae (Reed) Morris of Karnak; cousins, Curt and Gina (Reed) Baird and sons of Carbondale, Mike and Sarah (Morris) Schultz of Chicago and Reed and Christy Morris of South Padre Island, TX, other relatives and many friends. Bryce was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William H. Modglin and paternal grandparents, Paul and Fern Reed. Funeral services for Bryce F. Reed will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with the Rev. Jimmy Keller and Rev. Bill Minor officiating. Interment will be at the Green Lawn Cemetery in Villa Ridge. Friends may call at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from 5 until 8:00 pm. One of Bryce's dreams was to continue to develop projects that support young people experiencing hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. To carry on his dream there will be a memorial fund and contributions may be made in lieu of flowers, if desired, to the Bryce Reed Recreational Fund.
