Mr. Bobby "Bob" Dean Newberry Sr, age 76 of Anna, died at 7:42 a.m. at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Nursing Facility in Marion. He was born September 21, 1936 in Cobden, the son of Casey Layton and Edna Marie Adams Newberry. He married Sharon Marie Stogner on June 1, 1968 in Anna. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Newberry of Anna; children, Jackie Wayne (Lynn) Newberry of Metropolis, Tina Marie (Jimmy) Smock of Vienna, Bobby Dean Jr. (Debbie) Newberry of Jonesboro, Angela Renee Baum of Fairview Heights; eight grandchildren, Misty (Doug) Keeghan, Jeremy Newberry, Amanda Steel, Jay and Danny Smock, Zach and Hayden Newberry, Kelli Finley; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donnie (Maria) Newberry of Lombard, IL, Roger (Dollie) Newberry of Cobden; one sister, Joann Brimm of Englewood, FL; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Collin, Frank and Bud Newberry and one sister, Mildred Gibbons. Bob was a member of the Walnut Grove Methodist Church in Cobden for many years. He was an avid hunter; his favorite place was in the woods. He loved country music, played the guitar and sang in the band the New Tones, even appearing on the Grand Ole Opry. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked many years as a welder and fabricator for the White Hill Quarry in Cypress. He had a part time business as a welder and was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. Funeral services for Mr. Bobby "Bob" Dean Newberry Sr. will be at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Pastor Robert Fear officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Team of Marion. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Newberry Family. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
