Billy Jones

Billy Jones, age 83 of Anna, died Friday, March 19, 2021 at his home. He was born September 17, 1937 in Makanda, the son of Irvin Albert and Marjorie Vivian (Allan) Jones. He married Glenda Childress on April 27, 1994 in Henderson, KY. Billy is survived by his loving wife, Glenda Jones of Anna; son, Billy Jr (Georgia) Jones and their family of St. Augustine, FL, Jeff (Angie) Oppenheimer of East Moline, John (Kim) Yoast of Blairsville, Nathan (Regina) Yoast of Jackson, MO, other children; grandchildren, Travis and Sierra Jones, many other grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Dorothy) Jones of Carmi, Gary (Marsha) Jones; other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Kenny, Bob, and Donnie Jones; sister, Shirley Ann Jones; and mother in law, Lyla Childress. Billy was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church for many years. He retired from SIU after working over thirty years in maintenance at the Physical Plant. Billy was an avid woodworker and arrowhead hunter. He loved the outdoors and would spend many hours walking the bluffs and country side of Southern Illinois. He was also involved in Civil War reenactments for twenty five years. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Doug Bridgeman officiating. Interment will be in the Lipe Cemetery in Makanda. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard Funeral Honor Team of Marion. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 1:00 on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to Residential Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Everyone will be required to wear face coverings and observe social distancing guidelines.
