Billy Duane "Bill" Jackson, age 81 of Anna, passed away at his home on September 21st, 2018 from natural causes. He was born on February 14th, 1937 to Harvey William Jackson and Edna Mae Tucker in Ware, Illinois. Bill was a strong, talented, intelligent, beloved, kind and generous man until his last day on earth, he is irreplaceable in our lives. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force in Korea. Bill's priorities in life were his family as a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. He was passionate in his desire to help others, especially his community. His devotion to the Anna Fire and Rescue Department for 57 years was unparalleled. When being honored as Fireman of the Month, he said that if he had been born rich he would have been a professional volunteer. He worked tirelessly until the end to ensure everyone and every detail was attended to. He, and his wife Patricia, owned and operated the Union County Press in Anna and the Jackson Peach Orchard for many years. He proudly served on the Anna Jonesboro School board, the Chamber of Commerce and as County Commissioner. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He was beyond talented in his hobbies which included wood working, drawing, building, and restoring automobiles. There was simply nothing he could not do or accomplish. Bill is survived by his wife, Patricia Jackson of Anna, IL, his daughter, Vickie Jackson Gordon and Son in Law, Hal E. Gordon, MD of Phoenix, AZ, stepdaughter Nona Evans of Anna, IL and Stepson Flint Hileman of Anna, IL. grandchildren Tee Jay Hileman and Mariah DeRossett; two great grandchildren, Tanner Solomon and Masson Hileman; sisters Joan (Howard) Green of East Alton, IL and Doris Jean Samuels of Anna, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey William Jackson and Edna Mae Tucker; grandchild, Renee Solomon and nephew, Timothy Darren Samuels. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 2018 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. With Rev. Bobby Richardson officiating. Interment will be in the Anna Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Scott Air Force Base Honor Guard. Friends may call from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. The Emergency Service walk through will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be made to the Anna Fire and Rescue Department. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
