Mr. Bill J. Farris, age 86 of Anna, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at 4:50 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015 at his home. He was born April 4, 1929 in Cobden, the son of Lawrence and Hazel Hughs Farris. He married Marjorie Louise Singleton on August 26, 1950 in Piggott Arkansas. She preceded him in death on May 31, 2010. Bill was a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He served as a Military Policeman and was stationed in New Jersey. He worked for forty-three years at Lewis Brothers Bakery in Anna. Bill was the plant Superintendent of production until retiring in 1991. After retiring he and his wife Louise enjoyed traveling the country, taking many vacations through the years. Bill was a member of the Anna Heights Baptist Church since the church's inception in 1959. He served as a Trustee and Sunday school teacher for almost four decades. Bill had a firm deep belief in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He will be missed by his loving family. Bill is survived by his stepson, Mike (Rita) Hancock of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Chad William Farris, Rachel Farris, Michelle Hancock, Scott Doody, Andrea Doody, Todd Hancock, Michael Hancock and Jamison Moore; two daughter in laws, Robbie Zoe Anderson and Janell Farris; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louise Farris; son Mark Farris; and step daughter, Catherine Hancock; three sisters; and three brothers. Funeral services for Mr. Bill J. Farris will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in the Anna Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Darryl Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Alto Pass Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard Military Honors Team of Marion. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. and until the service hour at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in the Anna Heights Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Anna Heights Baptist Church or the Carmi Baptist Children's Home. Envelopes will be available in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna and at the church.
