Betty Mattheis

Betty Mattheis, age 93 of Anna, died Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the Union County Hospital. She was born November 2, 1927 in Jonesboro the daughter of Glenn and Ruth (Lyerly) Ury. She married Glenn "Brother" Mattheis on June 5, 1949 in Jonesboro. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2004. Betty was baptized as a teenager at Jonesboro Baptist Church. After her marriage she then attended the First Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Anna Jonesboro Central High School class of 1945. She was a member of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority and also a member of Friends of Stinson Library. She is survived by her children, Debbie Mattheis of Anna and Mark (Melanie) Mattheis of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Elizabeth Sarka, Sarah, Anna and Jonathan Mattheis; other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn "Brother" Mattheis; brothers, Harold, Roy and Joe Ury. Graveside funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in the Anna City Cemetery with Rev David Fischler officiating. Interment will follow the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Women's Association of the First Presbyterian Church. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery.
