Mrs. Betty Jean Hickam, age 78 of Jonesboro, died at 3:55 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2012 at her home in Jonesboro. She was born December 27, 1933 in Jonesboro, the daughter of George A. and Dorothy Winn Aaron. She married Henry "Demp" Walker on September 30, 1950 in Jonesboro. He preceded her in death on October 22, 1978. Later Betty married Norman G. Hickam on September 29, 1979.Betty is survived by her husband, Norman Hickam of Jonesboro; two daughters, Connie (Kent) Boyd, Sharon (Jerry) Abernathy; two sons, Monty Walker and Roy Walker; four grandchildren, Cindy Cobb, Zach Cobb, Curtis Walker, Marria Walker; three great grandchildren, Cody Wheaton, Clayton Pearl, Chase Pearl; three sisters, Marie Marks, Delores Thomas, and Shirley Major; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Donna Walker, one brother, Father Bob Aaron; and one sister, Donna Klinger.Betty was a member of the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Anna for many years. She was very active in her church. She loved painting and writing poetry. There were three things she would have enjoyed to have seen in her lifetime, Peace on Earth, a total cure of cancer and that she could have loved all people the same way God loves them. The things Betty was most thankful for was surviving breast cancer in 2002, listening to God more closely, and learning not to sweat the small stuff. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and her many, many friends.Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Jean Hickam will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Randy Carstens officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
