Betty Jane Garrett

    Betty Jane Garrett, age 86 of Jonesboro, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025. She was born August 17, 1939 in Anna, the daughter of Paris Owen and Birdie Ann (Wall) Eastwood. She married Harold Garrett on June 7, 1957 in Anna. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2011.

     Betty is survived by her children, Debbie Smith of Anna, Cathy and husband Tracy Thompson of Cobden, Marilyn Land of Jonesboro, David and wife Carla Garrett of Dongola; five grandchildren, Valerie and husband Anthony Merriweather, Christie and husband Craig Dillman, Shara Smith, Tifney Land, Charlie Jo Smith; great-grandchildren, Amiyah Merriweather, Ethan Dillman, Ayden Dillman and Tori Cummins; numerous nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold Garrett; son, Ricky Wayne Garrett; great granddaughter Alexis Dillman;  siblings, Odell, Lowell and Lawrence Eastwood; and Alberta Mae Cook.

Betty spent her working career in the restaurant industry. She loved to spend time with her family, cooking and going out to eat. She dearly adored her cat Hickory, and dogs, Jack, Tyson, Comet, and Gypsy.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Helia Healthcare in Herrin and Residential Hospice for their care and compassion.

Funeral services for Betty Jane Garrett will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2025 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Interment will follow in the Casper Cemetery. Friends may call after 12:00 noon and until the service hour at 2:00 p.m. at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Bill Littrell officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home to help with expenses.
