Betty L. Duschl, age 99 of Jonesboro, died peacefully at home, Tuesday, July 30, 2024. She was born August 20, 1924 in Union County, the daughter of Roy and Lena (Wildy) Brimm.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Linda Britt of Jonesboro; son, Robert (Linda) Duschl of Ft. Myers, FL; three grandchildren, Christie (Tim) Etherton of Murphysboro, Theresa (Caleb) Hale of Jonesboro, Timothy Duschl of Ft. Myers, FL; two great-grandchildren, Liam and Hannah Hale; sister, Carolyn Timms of Jonesboro; other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Freddie Brimm; brother, Harold Brimm; two sisters, Helen and Bernice Kelly; and son in law, William Britt.
Betty was a faithful member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro for many years. She enjoyed cooking, baking and always was ready to make chicken and dumplings for church events. Betty retired from Jonesboro Grade School where she worked as a cook. She later worked for H.J. Hines Barge Company as a cook on the river boat. Her table was always welcoming to anyone with her bounty from the garden and warm pie from the oven.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro with Pastor Mark Hasty officiating. Interment will follow in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2024 at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Lutheran Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the church and the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home.
