Bertha Lingle

Mrs. Bertha Lingle, 93, of Anna, died at 6:00 A.M., Friday, October 15, 2010 at Anna Rehab and Care Center. She was born September 1, 1917 in Villa Ridge, IL, the daughter of George A. and Emma Brewster Smoot. She married Royal "Doc" Mathis on May 9, 1937, he preceded her in death on March 9, 1951. She then married Terry Lingle on June 30, 1972, he preceded her in death on January 20, 1988.Bertha is survived two grandchildren, Mark (Jennifer) Mathis of Kernersville, NC and Pam (Craig) Moss of Edwardsville, IL; 5 great grandchildren, Zane, Gabe, and Finn Moss, Lauren Zanni, and Annalee Mathis; other relatives and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Judy Mathis; 2 brothers, George and Floyd Smoot; and 2 sisters, Marie and Elsie.Bertha was a member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church in Anna, Anna Eastern Star Chapter #522, and Union County Home Extension.Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Lingle will be held at 1:30 P.M., Monday, October 18, 2010 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Dr. Jim Clark officiating. Interment will be in the Anna Cemetery. Friends may call at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna from 12 noon until the funeral hour on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church or TIP Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
