Bernita Kay (Corzine) Smith

Bernita Kay Smith, age 75 of Anna, died Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Deaconess Midtown in Evansville, IN. She was born November 6, 1948 in Dongola, the daughter of Amos and Lennas Wandalene (Watson) Corzine.

Bernita is survived by her son, John Paul Smith Jr. of Anna; daughter, Brandi Buck of Jonesboro; nine grandchildren, Steven Webb, Christina Walker, Joseph, Thomas, Paul Xan Lee Smith, Jada, Jasmine, Jordan and Doug Buck; siblings, Galene (Brenda) Corzine of Makanda, Tina Young of Bates City, MO, Amos Allen (Patti) Corzine of Ft. Myers, FL; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Bernita worked twenty years for Florsheim Shoe Factory and later for Dyno Nobel in Wolf Lake before her retirement. She enjoyed volunteering at the food pantry and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Bernita was a member of the Mapel Grove Baptist Church in Perks. She was very active in her church before her health declined, but loved worshiping with her church family.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Larry Jordan officiating. Interment will be in the Dongola American Legion Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour of 12:00 noon at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions are preferred to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
