Benjamin F. Doughty Jr.

Mr. Benjamin F. Doughty Jr. age 81, of Cobden, died at 4:42 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 in the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. He was born June 14, 1931 in Cobden, the son of Benjamin F. Sr. and Marie Sims Doughty. Ben is survived by his son, David S. (Terri) Doughty of Lillian, Alabama; four daughters, Betty Jo Doughty of Anna, Pam Johnson of Anna, Marcy (Carl) Crecelius of Cobden and Brenda Carter of Anna; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Ronald (Grace) Doughty of Elizabethtown, KY; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and three brothers. Ben was of the Pentecost faith. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for many years as a truck driver for W.E. Womick Moving. Funeral services for Mr. Benjamin F. Doughty Jr. will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden with Rev. Rex. Goforth officiating. Interment will be in the Alto Pass Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Team of Marion. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. Memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Veteran's Home in Anna, activity fund. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.
