Belinda Lu Rhodes

Belinda Lu Rhodes, age 69 of Wolf Lake, passed away from an aneurysm the morning of Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Union County Hospital in Anna. She was born September 10, 1952 to Leda Mae Wallace of Vandeuser, Missouri. She married Phillip Lane Rhodes on October 11, 1974 at Beech Grove Baptist Church in rural Alto Pass - after a two year courtship and on-the-farm training. Belinda is survived by her most loving husband, Lane Rhodes of Wolf Lake; children, Stephanie Rhodes of Alto Pass, Kevin (Darson) Rhodes of Hamlin, NY, and Felicia (Jason) Gale of Keokuk, IA; four grandchildren, Toby (Kenzle) Gale of Montrose, IA, Molly Gale of Keokuk, IA, Tyus and Jonas Rhodes of Hamlin, NY; and one great-grandchild, Kaesen Lane Gale of Montrose, IA; siblings, Veda Hafley of Cape Girardeau, MO, Maria (Bob) Cogar of Fort Wayne, IN and John (Liz) Stage of Ventura, CA; great aunt and sister, Judy Kay Wallace of Vandeuser, MO; special friend and bonus mom, Ida May Smith of Anna; other family and special neighbors and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother. Belinda was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed supporting the Anna Heights Baptist Church Sunday School Class at the Anna Veterans Home. She and Lane held Sunday school and song services there for 23 years, making friends there to many veterans and their families. She farmed with her husband where they raised crops, livestock, many birds and their three children. Belinda loved flowers and helping people. She loved being a farm wife and forever companion to Lane and treasured their life together in the country. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the Jonesboro Cemetery with Bill Littrell officiating. Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Anna Veterans' Home or the Fisher House in St. Louis. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery and the funeral home.
