Avon Merle Stark

Mr. Avon Merle Stark, age 93 of Festus, Missouri, formerly of Southern Illinois, departed this earthly life at 6:03 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013 in Festus, Missouri. He was born February 20, 1920 near Rantoul IL, the son of Roy and Nancy Hammer Stark. Avon is survived by his brother, Harold (Jean) Stark of West Peoria; sever nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Charles, Roy and infant brother. Avon accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and became a member of the Reynoldsville Baptist Church, where he kept his membership. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the U.S. Berrien in the South Pacific. He then returned to Southern Illinois for a time before settling on a career at General Motors in St. Louis, MO. After retirement, Avon spent most of his time reading and studying the Bible, whis was his main focus throughout his life. Funeral services for Mr. Avon Merle Stark will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. and until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m. at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the Reynoldsville Baptist Church, the Salvation Army or AmHeart Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
