Mr. Arthur L. "Art" Houseman, age 77 of Lick Creek, died Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in the Herrin Hospital. He was born March 23, 1940 in Union County, the son of Ray H. and Cora Ellen (Glasco) Houseman. He married Lillie Rider on November 23, 1974 in Dongola. Art is survived by his loving wife of forty-two years, Lillie Houseman of Lick Creek; children, David (Lisa) Houseman of Anna, Leanna (Dale) Stanley of Arlington, TX, Dean (Kim) Houseman, Ed (Karla) Houseman all of Millersville, MO, Linda (Gary) Herron of Oregon; grandchildren, James (Megan) Houseman, Michael (Megan) Houseman, Steven (Sandra) Houseman, Jesse (Megan) Houseman, Josh (Isabel) Houseman, Jared Stanley, Erin Stanley (Chris) Jacobs, Kyle and Mason Herron, Miranda Cruz; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Logan, Corbin, Jace Houseman, Ezekiel "Zeke" Cruz; sisters, Barbara (Fred) Pitts of Buncombe, Judy (Morris) Hall of Cobden; brothers, Don Houseman and Ed (Sherri) Houseman of Cobden; brother in law, Charles Gilbert of Florida; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Randy Gilbert; sister, Betty Gilbert; and sister in law, Barbara Houseman. Art was a charter member of the United Missionary Baptist church. He was dedicated to his church, teaching Sunday school there for many years. He was a retired from the Federal Government as a District Conservationist. Art was a pilot, and loved all things aviation, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and dearly loved his dogs. In earlier years he played and coached softball and baseball. Funeral services for Mr. Arthur L. "Art" Houseman will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2017 in the United Missionary Baptist Church in Lick Creek with Pastor Paul Tirey officiating. Interment will be in Ebenezer Hall Cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 1:00 on Friday, July 28, 2017 in the United Missionary Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Missionary Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the church and the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
