Art Lodge, age 71 of Anna, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2025, in St. Louis, MO. He was born on January 25, 1954, in Carmi, the son of Vernon and Patricia (Thomas) Lodge.
Art is survived by a brother, Gary (Vickie) Lodge of Franklin, NC; nieces and nephew, Amanda, Katie, and Ryan; lifelong friends, though more like family, Mike & Marilyn Meisenheimer, Casey & Lindsay Johnson and Lance & Hillary Meisenheimer and their families; other relatives, and many, many friends.
Handling and taking care of horses came naturally to Art. He loved horses and worked with them for many years, truly taking pride in his work. Art was a two-time reserve world champion in the groom class at the Racking Horse World Celebration and loved showing and trail riding horses at Meisenheimer Stables. Art also enjoyed fishing, especially with his brother Gary during his summer trips in Florida. He knew how to have fun and enjoy life, especially when it came to karaoke and wrestling. He never missed a karaoke night, a professional wrestling match or an A-J Football game. He was loved by all who knew him and his big smile and heart will forever be missed.
Memorial services for Art will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2025, at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Bill Littrell officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the service time at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Art Lodge Memorial Fund which will help sponsor the RHBAA Grooms World Championship Class winnings and trophies for all of Art's fellow grooms so that his memory can live on in the Racking Horse Family, with checks made payable to Racking Horse Breeders Association of America, or the donor's charity of choice. Envelopes will be available at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home.
